Report: "Sunday: The Day of Rest" I was feeling like I needed a rest day but I drove down to VFW's just to check it out. It was raining lightly but steadily and conditions were pretty clean. The wind seemed to be out of the ENE and the wave surfaces were smooth and rippled. Like the day before it was breaking really hard, sucking sand and spitting. There were a couple of guys out at Kelly's but I didn't really see them get much. They disappeared and after a while I watched a guy try to get outside without success, quickly getting sucked from Wise to Seal Rocks. I drove down to Sloat and conditions were better there, that is to say the waves were a bit more surfable, a bit bigger and the paddle looked easier, which was indicated by the 20 or so surfers out. I watched a lot of good waves get ridden, big and open and clean, maybe a little mushy. I stuck to my drivers seat and looked on through my squeaking windshield wipers. |
